Sculpted Calm: Design Stories from Milan
Space becomes sculpture, and materials become memory – A sensory journey through Milan Design Week 2025.
Milan Design Week 2025 was more than a showcase of beautiful objects. It was a meditation on how we relate to space, form, and emotion. Brands moved beyond surface aesthetics and leaned into storytelling through materiality, light, and slowness.
🟠 Hermès: The Aura of Objects
Hermès presented its new home collection at La Pelota, transforming the venue into a serene landscape of suspended white boxes. Inside each box, meticulously crafted glass and ceramic pieces glowed with color reflected from hidden lighting below. This installation wasn't just about display; it was about containment and discovery, a reminder that objects carry presence when given the space to breathe.

At La Pelota, Hermès framed its 2025 home collection with light and silence—an ode to craft, presence, and purity.

From playful polka dots to sculptural transparency—Hermès reveals how color, form, and craft come together in quiet harmony.

Graphic rhythm and artisan detail define Hermès’ home series—where geometry meets emotion.

→ Interior Takeaway: Frame your favorite objects with intention. A niche, pedestal, or subtle spotlight can elevate an ordinary item into something emotionally resonant.
🔸 Louis Vuitton – Objets Nomades Collection
At Palazzo Serbelloni, Louis Vuitton unveiled its latest Objets Nomades pieces – collaborations with designers like Estúdio Campana and Patricia Urquiola. The collection reinterpreted early 20th-century Italian futurist Fortunato Depero's graphic language into carpets, ceramics, and limited-edition furnishings. Colorful, playful, and refined, the pieces struck a delicate balance between art and design.

In rooms rich with Baroque detail, Louis Vuitton’s playful furnishings add a modern softness to historic splendor.

→ Interior Takeaway: Don’t shy away from bold artistic elements. A patterned rug or sculptural accessory can anchor a room and spark conversation.
🔵 6:AM – Two-Fold Silence
In one of the most atmospheric exhibitions of the week, Murano glass brand 6:AM took over Piscina Cozzi, an abandoned public bathhouse in Milan. The installation, titled Two-Fold Silence, juxtaposed delicate glass chandeliers and objects with decaying tile and brick architecture. The contrast created a poignant reflection on time, memory, and material.

In a forgotten public bathhouse, 6:AM layers light and glass to transform stillness into spectacle.

Silence takes shape—through emptiness, light, and the haunting elegance of departure.

→ Interior Takeaway: Contrast is powerful. Pair refined textures like glass or polished stone with aged surfaces to tell a richer story in your space.
✨ Why It Matters
Milan 2025 showed us that design is slowing down. The maximalist noise of previous years has given way to clarity, texture, and form. What stands out now is not excess but restraint. This isn’t about having more things; it’s about choosing fewer, better, more meaningful ones.
A room isn’t complete because it’s full. It’s complete when it feels intentional.
We'll be back with more heartfelt, inspiring, and design-rich stories next time—crafted just for your everyday moments.
Twinkle every day for you.
Warmly,
Kate
